Title:Model for the assessment and classification of job positions of older employees according to the ergonomic framework of hearing strain
Abstract:In the labor market, there is an increasing presence of older employees, representing a demographic group susceptible to hearing issues. Noise in the workplace poses a severe problem as it can hurt on employees health and well-being. Improperly adjusted job positions for older employees represent an ergonomic risk that can lead to long-term consequences for the employee. In the labor market, growing number of more senior employees with documented hearing loss due to various factors further increase their sensitivity to noise. Organizations and companies must pay special attention to designing job positions for older employees. The purpose of this master's thesis was to develop a model for assesssing job positions from the perspective of older employees, which would enable employers and ergonomics experts in companies to understand betterand consider the specific needs of more senior employees in designing job positions. We examined scientific and professional literature on older employees, workplace noise, hearing, and hearing aids. Using surveys and measurements of respondents hearing abilities, we analyzed the data, taking into account ergonomic factors such as noise, sound frequency, noise exposure, and other relevant variables. The results of this master's thesis will benefit both employers and researchers in the field of ergonomics and woekplace safety, as they will contribute to a better understanding and development of customized job positions for older employees, thus improving the quality of life and work efficiency of employees.
