Title:Development opportunities of mountain tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina - the example of Jahorina
Abstract:As part of this thesis, research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the current state of mountain tourism on Jahorina and the potential for developing year-round mountain tourism. Firstly, we analyzed the current state of tourism on Jahorina, the basic characteristics of the mountain, winter and summer tourism, as well as its tourist offer and infrastructure. Following that, we conducted research by interviewing specific stakeholders such as tourist communities, private tourism operators on the mountain, and the Jahorina administration responsible for the mountain's management. The analysis concluded that year-round tourism on Jahorina is currently underdeveloped, with some respondents stating that it does not exist. There is significant potential on Jahorina that has not been fully exploited; the infrastructure is not sufficiently developed to support high-quality year-round tourism, and future strategies are focused on innovation in tourist products and diversification of tourist offerings. Respondents recommend innovative tourist products that include ecological, cultural, sports, and adrenaline activities that could attract tourists throughout the year. The research concludes by emphasizing the need for improving the current infrastructure, strengthening cooperation with local communities, and implementing sustainable practices to maintain the long-term development of mountain tourism on Jahorina.
