Title:Use of two-factor authentication in organizational account
Abstract:In our study, we explored the determinants influencing the adoption of two-factor authentication (2FA) among users of organizational accounts. Our research integrates the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors affecting 2FA adoption. Data were gathered through an online survey distributed via Facebook and SurveyCircle, yielding 124 valid responses. Respondents rated their perceptions on a five-point Likert scale. The results support seven hypotheses, while two were rejected, and three did not show a statistically significant correlation. Our analysis revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between self-efficacy, response efficacy, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and the factor of protection motivation. We found that perceived ease of use is strongly associated with perceived usefulness. Based on these findings, the study offers recommendations for improving 2FA adoption in organizations, with a focus on managing deterrents and strengthening motivators for users.
