Abstract:Kirurško zdravljenje velja za enega izmed temeljnih načinov zdravljenja pacientov z možganskim tumorjem. Izvedli smo pregled, analizo in sintezo znanstvene literature. Iskanje je bilo opravljeno v podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Cochrane Library in ScienceDirect. Podatke smo analizirali in s pomočjo vsebinske sinteze sintetizirali.

Title:Quality of life after surgical removal of brain tumor
Abstract:Surgery is considered one of the main treatments for brain tumour patients. Although surgical removal of brain tumor has a good prognosis, the changes tat occur after removal can have major impact on patients' quality of life. The aim of our study is to determine how surgical removal affects the quality of life of patients after brain tumor removal. We have reviewed, analysed and synthesised the scientific literature. PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Cochrane Library and ScienceDirect databases were searched, analysed and synthesised using content synthesis. Articles were classified according to level of evidence using the hierarchy of evidence. In the final analysis, we included 6 articles that matched our search string and answered our research question. It was found that the quality of life after surgery deteriorated in many patients, despite tumour removal, due to a variety of physical, pyschological and social factors. Research also indicates that emotional function improved after surgery, while physical function deteriorated. Quality of life is one of the main parameters for assessing the success of brain tumour treatment. The deterioration of quality of life after surgical removal is influenced by various physical, psychological and social problems that may occur after surgery. Factors such as gender, post-operative complications, type of treatment, re-operation, tumour type and tumour diameter may also influence the increased risk of reduced quality of life.
