Title:Learn to swim: for children with different swimming skills in different learning conditions
Abstract:The diploma thesis discusses the process of children's swimming learning, with an emphasis on the time of active participation during swimming lessons. The aim of the study is to discover how the depth and prior knowledge of swimming affect a child's activity during the lessons. The theoretical part examines the importance of swimming from the perspective of survival and health, as well as the teaching methods and didactic principles used by teacher in swimming leassons. The empirical part includes observations of children during swimming lessons, where they were divided according to water depth and level of prior knowledge. The results show that, on average, children spend more time in active learning in deeper water, but the difference is not statistically significant. It was also established that prior knowledge has an important impact on the length of active swimming learning. We suggest adapting learning methods to the age, prior knowledge, and physical competence of children, as well as optimising learning programmes for more effective swimming learning. The thesis contributes to the improvement of pedagogical aproaches in swimming education.
