Abstract:Svetovalno delo je eden izmed pomembnih vidikov v življenjih dijakov.

Title:School counselling in a hall of residence
Abstract:School counseling is one of the most important aspects in the life of students. This goes for the aspect of schooling and education as well as in the context of life in a hall of residence. For students who are just starting out, or are continouing, their time in halls of residence, counselors, in addition to teachers can have deterimental effects on their well being and on the ways students deal with different issues. In the theoretical part we touch upon the main elements of school counseling and counseling in halls of residence, focusing on issues that adolescents face in this turbulent period of their lives. In the empirical part we have found that students who attend higher vocational schools value general help and help with economic and social issues as the most important assignements of counselors. Those who visit vocational school have deemed those as the least important. The results show, that the issues adolescents are faced with the most regard their self image. The issues they face the least, are those connected with discipline. The students are of the opinon, that the students who visit school counselors or counselors in halls of residence are often »troubled teens« and are of the opinion that if they were to visit the school or hall of residence counselors they would not want their peers to know. The research concluded that adolescents, when they are faced with issues, most often turn to parents, counselors in halls of residence and friends.
