Ugotovili smo statistično pomembno pozitivno povezavo intenzivnosti menstrualnih simptomov in prezentizma zaradi menstruacije.

Title:The relationship between employees' menstrual symptoms and absenteeism and presenteeism
Abstract:Although the menstrual experience is natural and everyday, little is known about its significance for the working lives of working menstruators. Severe menstrual symptoms can have consequences seen in absenteeism (i.e. work absences), presenteeism (i.e. attendance at work despite disabling symptoms with reduced efficiency), and general losses in the employee's work productivity. The purpose of the master's work was to examine the relationship between menstrual symptoms and absenteeism and presenteeism due to menstruation in Slovenia. For a more comprehensive understanding of the topic, we also investigated additional constructs (e.g. beliefs about menstruation and social support). 144 menstruating adults who work at least half-time participated. They completed demographic questions and individual questions about menstruation, the Menstruation-Related Symptoms Questionnaire (MRSQ), the Beliefs about and Attitudes toward Menstruation Questionnaire (BATM), the Stanford Presenteeism Scale (SPS-6), and the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), and absenteeism and presenteeism questions from the Productivity Cost Questionnaire (iPCQ). The data were analysed with Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients, bivariate linear regression and moderation. We found a statistically significant positive association between the intensity of menstrual symptoms and presenteeism due to menstruation. We also discovered a statistically significant negative correlation between the level of education and absenteeism. We concluded similarly for general and superior support and presenteeism. The non-significant positive association of beliefs about hiding menstruation and presenteeism highlights the need for interventions in male- as well as female-dominated areas of work. We did not confirm the assumptions about the importance of telecommuting and the moderating effects of menstrual diagnosis and social support on presenteeism. Subsequently, we also found that overall symptom intensity and menstrual pain intensity were statistically significant predictors of presenteeism. Finally, we interpreted the results and derived advantages, disadvantages and possibilities for further research.
