Title:Work-Life balance of micro-entity owners
Abstract:This master's thesis examines the differences in balancing professional and personal life among owners of micro-entities established either as a result of a hobby or in response to market demands. The theoretical part of the thesis highlights that the balance between professional and personal life has been the subject of numerous studies, which explore various strategies, factors, and theories aimed at identifying elements essential for effective work-life integration. The empirical part investigates how work-life balance, stress levels, and applied strategies differ based on the motivation for establishing the business. Using a survey questionnaire, it was found that there are no statistically significant differences in work-life balance or stress levels based on the motivation for starting a business. However, owners of businesses initiated from a hobby often display higher levels of motivation and enthusiasm for their work. They also tend to dedicate more time to leisure activities such as spending time with family and engaging in sports, contributing to better stress management. Nevertheless, they more frequently encounter challenges in setting boundaries between work and leisure, as they often perceive their work as an extension of their hobby. All micro-enterprise owners primarily use basic strategies for balancing professional and personal life, such as prioritization and incorporating leisure activities (or regular breaks during work) to reduce stress. The study concludes that for more relevant survey results, it would be necessary to also consider the personality traits of individuals, as these significantly influence stress experiences and the ability to establish boundaries
