Abstract:Storilci kaznivih dejanj se zaradi različnih vzgibov oziroma vzrokov odločajo za storitev kaznivega dejanja. Ta so v sodobni družbi velik problem.

Title:Analysis of reported criminal offences in the area of the Dravograd Police Station in the period between 2013 and 2023
Abstract:Criminals decide to commit a crime for various reasons. These are a major problem in modern society. Despite the shortage of personnel, the Dravograd Police Station carries out various preventive actions in local communities and schools and increases the visibility of the police in the field, thereby strengthening surveillance in areas where a large number of crimes are detected. Between 2013 and 2023, it also carried out various preventive actions, such as Police Officer Leon, Pedestrian Be Visible, Be Careful, etc. Through these preventive activities, police officers are integrated into the community. Using data received from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and the Center for Research and Social Skills of the Police Academy of the General Police Administration, we analyzed crimes in the area of the Dravograd Police Station in the period from 2013 to 2023. We did this by comparing the most common crimes, which we defined according to their type. We found that the largest share of crimes committed from 2013 to 2023 is property crime. During the Covid-19 epidemic, the handling of crimes related to domestic violence increased, while the number of all crimes handled decreased. Given the findings, we suggest that greater attention be paid to securing personal belongings by ensuring that people keep them in a visible place at all times and that they use self-protection measures, such as locking rooms or installing video surveillance cameras, as often as possible.
