Abstract:Uvod: Opekline so izjemno boleče poškodbe, ki imajo poleg fizičnih posledic tudi velik vpliv na duševno zdravje in kakovost življenja pacienta. Raziskave so bile pridobljene iz podatkovnih baz CINAHL Ultimate, SAGE, PubMed, ScienceDirect in Web of Science. Pregled literature smo predstavili s pomočjo diagrama PRISMA.

Title:Patient's coping with everyday life after a burn injury
Abstract:Introduction: Burns are exceptionally painful injuries that, in addition to physical consequences, also have a significant impact on the patient's mental health and quality of life. Recovery from burns is a lengthy process that requires comprehensive care, as patients face pain, prolonged hospitalization, physical challenges, and psychosocial consequences such as scarring, depression, and social isolation. The aim of the study was to investigate how patients cope with daily life after discharge from the hospital following a burn injury. Methods: We utilized a descriptive or narrative methodology in our writing. The research was sourced from databases including CINAHL Ultimate, SAGE, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science. The literature review was presented using a PRISMA diagram. Results: Out of 894 results, ten studies were included in the final analysis. All these studies have shown the importance of psychological support, coping strategies and social support in improving the quality of life of burn survivors and in dealing with their physical and emotional consequences. Discussion and conclusion: Facing life after a burn injury presents numerous challenges, such as physical limitations, pain, changes in appearance, and psychological pressures. When the patient returns from the hospital, the support of loved ones and comprehensive rehabilitation are crucial, as they help the individual gradually accept the new circumstances and return to daily activities.
