Abstract:Uvod: Totalna endoproteza kolena je eden izmed najbolj učinkovitih ter najuspešnejših načinov zdravljenja na področju ortopedije, katere cilj je obnoviti anatomsko in funkcionalno celovitost kolenskega sklepa. Z operativnim posegom se pacientu omogoči ponovno vzpostavitev mobilnosti in zmanjšanje neznosne bolečine. Metode: V zaključnem delu smo pregledali literaturo, ki smo jo z iskalnim nizom našli v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, Medline in Scopus.

Title:Acute surgical wound care after insertion of total knee endoprosthesis
Abstract:Introduction: Total knee arthroplasty is one of the most effective and successful treatments in orthopaedics, aiming to restore the anatomical and functional integrity of the knee joint. The surgery allows the patient to regain mobility and reduce unbearable pain. The aim of this thesis is to determine how acute surgical wound care after total knee arthroplasty affects wound healing. Methods: In the final part of the study, we performed a literature review of the literature found in the CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, Medline and Scopus databases using a search string. The process of article selection was illustrated using a PRISMA diagram and the results were analysed and synthesised. Results: Seven studies were included in the final analysis. Different methods of wound closure such as tissue adhesives and the Zip technique reduce the chance of complications and potential pain compared to stitches and staples. The use of pre-operative prophylaxis is crucial, as it significantly reduces the chances of post-operative infections. Holistic management of the patient helps to improve post-operative pain management, early standing and movement of the patient speeds up blood circulation and wound healing. Discussion and conclusion: It would be important to focus awareness-raising on further education and training for healthcare professionals working in the field of surgery. Important attention could also be paid to patients to ensure that they are aware of the correct care and management of their wounds after leaving hospital.
