Title:Design of fuse tripping characteristics for peak loads in low-voltage distribution networks using optimization methods
Abstract:The main issue that has been occurring recently in distribution networks in low-voltage (LV) branches from 20/0,4 kV substations is the increased simultaneous consumption on a specific branch, exceeding the designed capacity. This refers to the situation where the actual load on the branch is significantly higher than the one planned during the network design. As a result, fuses may blow. The main idea of the thesis is to adjust the tripping characteristics of fuses in case of occasional overloads, or to design new sub-characteristics for fuses with a specific rated current, intended for use in distribution networks. This will be done based on real load measurements, overload analysis, and the design of new fuse characteristics using an optimization algorithm.
Keywords:fuses, tripping characteristics, distribution network, optimization, peak loads
