Abstract:Magistrsko delo v teoretičnem delu opredeljuje simptome, vzroke, dejavnike tveganja in različne tipe ADHD, ter oblike pomoči tem otrokom, predvsem v šolskem okolju.

Title:The potentials and challenges of using music in the daily life and learning environment of children with ADHD
Abstract:In the theoretical part, the thesis defines the symptoms, causes, risk factors and different types of ADHD, as well as the forms of support for these children, especially in the school environment. Music has a positive impact on all levels of an individual's development, physical, mental and emotional-social, so it is worth exploring it as a supportive tool when working with children with ADHD. In the empirical part, we carried out a study to find out how ADHD pupils experience music in their free time and during the learning process, and how it affects their emotional competence and cognitive abilities. We wanted to find out from teachers which activities and for what purpose they integrate music into the learning process. In the empirical part, a qualitative study was carried out, involving interviews with ADHD students (n=11) and teachers (n=11). The average age of the participating students was 11,8 years. Thematic analysis of the data showed that music is often used by ADHD pupils as a means to improve focus and relaxation. Teachers recognise its positive impact in terms of self-regulation of emotions, executive functions and cognitive processes. They also report a lack of guidelines for its effective use in the learning process. The main finding of the study is that music can be a very useful tool when working with students with ADHD, but it needs to be chosen and used thoughtfully in the learning process. In addition, the study highlights the need for more teacher education on the use of music with children with special needs and for guidelines for its effective implementation.
