Title:Compositions for Male Choirs by Czech Composers in the Publication Novi akordi
Abstract:The master's thesis titled Compositions for Male Choirs by Czech Composers in the Publication Novi akordi summarizes the development of male singing and music publications throughout history in present-day Slovenia. There is an emphasis on one of the most important music publications in present-day Slovenia titled Novi akordi (New Chords) and its editor Gojmir (Gregor) Krek. In addition, the bi-monthly publication for vocal and instrumental music titled Nova muzika (New Music), which represents a sort of successor to Novi akordi, is also highlighted. For better understanding, the master's thesis includes a list of all compositions for male choirs published during Novi akordi's publication period, i.e. between 1091 and 1914. The main part describes three Czech composers (Anton Foerster, Vítězslav Novák in Josip Procházka) and their compositions for male choirs published in Novi akordi. The master's thesis also includes a detailed analysis of all eight compositions for male choirs by the three composers (Povejte ve planine!, Spomen-pjesma, V brezupnosti, Bi mirna noć, Himna, Moravska narodna, Vabilo, Zaprto srce!), which were published between 1901 and 1905.
