Title:Analysis of interoperability between BIM and FEM on the example of a residential building
Abstract:The master's thesis focuses on the analysis of interoperability between BIM and FEM software, using a residential building as a case study. The process of creating BIM models in Allplan and Revit is presented, along with an assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of each software. Three data exchange workflows between the programs were examined: Allplan – SCIA Engineer using SCIA AutoConverter, Revit – SOFiSTiK, and Revit – SCIA Engineer using Revit plugins. Each exchange was analysed, and evaluations of their effectiveness were provided. In the final part of the thesis, structural analyses were carried out in SCIA Engineer and SOFiSTiK, with a comparison between the two software tools. A comparative table of analysis results is presented for each data exchange case, as well as for models created directly within the FEM tools without data transfer. The percentage differences in the analysis results were minimal. The results indicate that interoperability between the tools is generally successful, but additional adjustments are needed to ensure complete data consistency.
