Metode: Uporabili smo sistematični pristop dela z metodami pregleda, analize in sinteze znanstvene in strokovne literature, pri čemer smo sledili smernicam PRISMA. Literaturo smo iskali v mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah PubMed, ScienceDirect in SAGE. Rezultate analize in sinteze identificiranih raziskav smo predstavili v obliki tabele in opisno. Izvedli smo kritično oceno s pomočjo orodja Joanna Briggs Institute in tematsko analizo. Uvedba telezdravja in multidisciplinarni pristop sta dodatno okrepila učinkovitost intervencij. Razprava in zaključek: Za obvladovanje protimikrobne odpornosti je potreben celostni pristop, ki vključuje nove tehnologije, zakonodajo, medinstitucionalno sodelovanje in izobraževanje. Ključno je izobraževanje vseh v zdravstvenem sistemu in širše javnosti. Potrebne so nadaljnje raziskave za izboljšanje obstoječih ukrepov.

Title:Effectiveness of interventions to reduce antimicrobial resistance in healthcare
Abstract:Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance is the Achilles’ heel of modern healthcare and society, representing a major challenge that demands the development of advanced interventions and approaches to manage its burden. The severity of the problem is also reflected in the scope of the interventions and activities aimed at its containment. This systematic review examines the effectiveness of interventions in preventing the emergence, spread, and control of resistant microbes in healthcare settings. Methods: A systematic approach was employed, involving the review, analysis, and synthesis of scientific and professional literature, following PRISMA guidelines. Literature searches were conducted in international databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, and SAGE. The findings are presented in tabular form, with a critical appraisal using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool and a thematic analysis. Results: Seventeen studies were included in the final analysis. We grouped five primary and four secondary themes under the main topic titled: Effectiveness of Interventions for Controlling Antimicrobial Resistance in Healthcare. The results demonstrated that educational programs significantly enhance adherence to antimicrobial resistance guidelines. The introduction of telehealth and a multidisciplinary approach further strengthened the effectiveness of interventions. Discussion and conclusion: A holistic approach is crucial for managing antimicrobial resistance, encompassing new technologies, legislative measures, interinstitutional collaboration, and education. The education of all stakeholders in the healthcare system, as well as the wider public, plays a pivotal role. Further research is required to refine and improve existing interventions.
