Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava uporabo in poznavanje vitkih pristopov med zdravstvenimi delavci v slovenskih zdravstvenih ustanovah.

Title:Analysis of the use and knowledge of lean approaches among employees in the healthcare sector
Abstract:This master's thesis examines the use and awareness of lean approaches among healthcare workers in Slovenian healthcare institutions. The aim of the research was to determine to what extent healthcare professionals are familiar with lean methods such as 5S, KAIZEN, KANBAN, SMED and the 7 WASTES and how often and in what way these methods are applied in practice. An empirical study was conducted using a questionnaire completed by 160 healthcare professionals. The differences in knowledge were analyzed according to the type of healthcare institution, level of education and professional position. The results showed that awareness of lean methods is generally low – more than two thirds of respondents had never heard of them. Nevertheless, the majority expressed a willingness to undergo further training and recognized the potential of these methods to improve work processes. Statistical analysis confirmed differences in knowledge depending on the type of institution: the highest level of awareness was found in hospitals, the lowest in nursing homes. A correlation was found between the perceived benefits of lean approaches and the willingness to participate in training, while the correlation with the level of education was not statistically significant. The most frequently used method was 5S, while other methods were used less frequently. The main barriers to implementing lean approaches were lack of time, lack of training and management support. Despite these challenges, the results show a high level of interest in applying lean methods, which represents a valuable opportunity for further training and organizational change. The thesis highlights the need for greater awareness, strategic support and systematic implementation of lean approaches as they can contribute to better organization of work, increased efficiency and improved quality of healthcare services.
