Abstract:Operativna tehnologija upravlja naše fizično okolje in je ključna za skoraj vse sektorje kritične infrastrukture in industrijo.

Title:Cyber security in operational technology (ot) environments and solutions for ensuring protection of process systems in a network
Abstract:Operational technology manages our physical environment and is essential for nearly all sectors of critical infrastructure and industry. Therefore, ensuring reliable, secure, and continuous operation of OT environments is vital, as any failure could lead to severe social and economic consequences. For this reason, the process networks that support the functioning of OT systems were historically completely isolated from the internet and organisational business networks. However, with the rise of digitalization and Industry 4.0, this is no longer the case – process networks are often already connected with IT systems, which introduces new challenges, particularly in the field of cybersecurity. This has exposed numerous weaknesses in OT systems, such as outdated equipment, a lack of updates, and missing security patches. As a result, organisations must now implement appropriate measures to ensure a sufficient level of cybersecurity in their process systems. Key basic measures include segmentation, proper separation of IT and OT, and secure remote access. For enhanced resilience, advanced security technologies are also available, such as ADS and IPS systems and robust firewalls.
