Abstract:Uvod: Pri pacientih v enoti intenzivne terapije (EIT) je stresna hiperglikemija pogost pojav.

Title:Effective management of stress hyperglycaemia in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit
Abstract:Introduction: Stress hyperglycaemia is common in ICU patients. In the ICU, regular monitoring of glucose levels in critically ill patients is performed and insulin doses are adjusted according to the measurements. The aim of this final work is to investigate which approaches are most effective in managing stress hyperglycaemia in critically ill patients in the ICU. Methods: We used a descriptive research method. We conducted a review of the scientific and professional literature, which was searched in the CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed and SAGE Journals databases. The identified studies were classified according to a hierarchical structure, analysed and presented in an evaluation table. Finally, a synthesis of the collected studies was performed. Results: We have identified different glycaemic controls, continuous glucose measurement technologies and computer-controlled systems. We found that it is still not known which approaches are most effective in helping to manage stress hyperglycaemia in critically ill patients in the ICU. Discussion and conclusion: Each approach has its advantages and disadvantages. The results reveal key dilemmas such as the choice of the optimal target glycaemic range, which glucose measurement technology is most appropriate, and the role of digital systems in managing glycaemic control.
