Abstract:V diplomskem delu je predstavljeno področje sodobne forenzike mobilnih elektronskih naprav, kot poddisciplina digitalne forenzike. Celoten postopek forenzične preiskave vključuje faze identifikacije, zbiranja dokazov, pregleda podatkov, analize in poročanja.

Title:Modern forensics of mobile electronic devices
Abstract:The thesis presents the field of modern forensics of mobile electronic devices as a subdiscipline of digital forensics. The entire forensic investigation process includes the phases of identification, evidence collection, data examination, analysis, and reporting. All phases incorporate digital forensics principles, among which the most important are evidence documentation, or audit trail, and the preservation of data integrity by ensuring that no changes occur to the original data. This is achieved through the data preservation process by creating a working copy of the original, which is then used for the investigation. The thesis provides an understanding of various extraction methods, including logical, physical, and file system extraction. The development of forensics of mobile devices has been largely shaped by the need to adapt to specific characteristics that differentiate mobile devices from traditional computers, such as new types of data and limited accessibility. To help address these challenges, modern solutions such as process automation and the use of artificial intelligence are applied within this field. In Slovenia, the use of such technologies is not yet legally regulated. However, the area is more precisely defined by the Criminal Procedure Act, which outlines procedures for the seizure, preservation, and investigation of electronic devices. Legal challenges remain the most significant, as access to data is often restricted by court orders and the requirement that users consent to the release of their data. International cooperation between investigative authorities is also essential. Technical limitations primarily stem from the increasing complexity of mobile electronic devices and the lack of standardized forensic tools and procedures.
