Abstract:Uvod: Zunajbolnišnični srčni zastoj zahteva hitro ukrepanje očividcev. Metode: Uporabili smo kvantitativno raziskovalno metodologijo in deskriptivno metodo dela. Izvedli smo kvazi eksperimentalno raziskavo. Svetujemo nadaljnje raziskovanje ohranitve znanja skozi čas.

Title:The imapct of performed first aid training program on the knowledge of slovenian police officers and their decision to perform basic resuscitation procedures and the use of an automatic external defibrillator
Abstract:Introduction: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest requires quick action from bystanders. Police officers work among people, making it crucial for them to have CPR knowledge, which they gain through internal training programs. Methods: We used a quantitative research methodology and a descriptive method of work. We conducted a quasi-experimental study and collected data using a questionnaire. We compared the data before and after the training. Results: Post-training results show significant improvements in theoretical (Z = -15.974, p < 0.001), practical knowledge (Z = -16.146, p < 0.001), and self-assessment (Z = -13.271, p < 0.001). After training more police officers would perform CPR (work: Z = -6.000, p < 0.001; free time: Z = -6.067, p < 0.001) and use an AED (Z = -7.835, p < 0.001). The perception of first aid as a police obligation improved as well (Z = -4.281, p < 0,001). Discussion and Conclusion: Our findings show weak knowledge before the training and significant improvement afterwards. Self-assessment also increased. The training boosted the proportion of police officers willing to perform CPR and those who view first aid as a police obligation. We recommend further research on knowledge retention over time.
