Abstract:Povzetek Uvod: Spanje je ključnega pomena za zdravje in dobro počutje skozi celotno življenje. Metode: Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo dela in metodo analize, kompilacije, komparacije in metodo sinteze. Pregled literature smo iskali v naslednjih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL Ultimate in Web of Science.

Title:The impact of sleep on the development of a healthy newborn
Abstract:Abstract Introduction: Sleep is essential for health and well-being throughout life. It is particularly important for newborns to get enough sleep, as sleep deprivation can significantly affect their overall development. The purpose of this thesis was to explore, based on existing literature, how sleep influences the development of a healthy newborn. Methods: We used a descriptive research method along with methods of analysis, compilation, comparison, and synthesis. The literature review was conducted using the following databases: PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL Ultimate, and Web of Science. To systematically organize relevant information from the literature, content analysis was employed. The selection of suitable articles was illustrated using a PRISMA diagram. Results: Out of 1,512 articles, 5 full-text articles relevant to the topic were included in the final analysis. The most significant findings showed that newborn sleep influences various areas of infant development, such as physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. Sleep deprivation can negatively influence specific aspects of infant development and increase the risk of developing anxiety disorders. Discussion and Conclusion: Sleep is crucial for healthy infant development, as its deprivation negatively impacts the child's overall growth. Therefore, understanding the importance of sleep-in newborns is crucial—not only for healthcare professionals but also for parents.
