Znanstveno literaturo smo iskali v naslednjih tujih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL in Cochrane Library. Rezultate smo prikazali v vsebinski in evalvacijski tabeli.

Title:Adverse effects of epidural anaesthesia after surgery
Abstract:Introduction: Epidural analgesia is an effective method for managing acute postoperative pain following chest, pelvic, major abdominal, urological, vascular surgeries, and surgeries on the lower extremities. Despite its effectiveness, it is associated with dangerous complications, requiring careful use and close monitoring. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the undesirable side effects of epidural anaesthesia in postoperative patients based on the available literature. Methods: The thesis utilized a descriptive approach, specifically a literature review method. Scientific literature was searched in the following international databases: PubMed, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library. The results were presented in a content and evaluation table. The selected articles were categorized according to the hierarchy of evidence and presented using the evaluation table. Results: A total of 7 studies were included in the final analysis. It was found that epidural anaesthesia after surgery brings both benefits and risks. It reduces the risk of several complications, such as atrial fibrillation and pneumonia, improves the recovery of bowel function, but increases the risk of some side effects, such as hypotension, pruritus, and motor block. The studies showed that complications, such as epidural hematoma and subdural spinal bleeding, are rare but serious. Discussion and Conclusion: The study focused on the side effects of epidural anaesthesia in postoperative patients. The key findings indicate that epidural anaesthesia effectively reduces postoperative pain and contributes to faster recovery, but there are also some side effects present.
