Abstract:Uvod: Ženske si ob porodu večkrat želijo podpore doule oziroma obporodne spremljevalke. Literaturo smo tematsko analizirali in sintetizirali, oblikovali podteme in glavno temo. Rezultati: Iskanje v podatkovnih bazah, zbirkah podatkov in spletnem brskalniku nam je prineslo skupno 53 rezultatov, izmed katerih smo jih 8 vključili v končno analizo. Razprava in zaključek: Izobraževanje in usposabljanje doul poteka različno. Žal z načinom izobraževanja niso zadovoljne niti doule same.

Title:Education and training of doulas
Abstract:Introduction: Women often want the support of doulas during childbirth. They contribute to better birth experiences and their outcomes. A problem arises with education and training doulas, because their work and qualifications are not officially defined. The purpose of this thesis is to explore literature regarding education of doulas in Slovenia and abroad. Methods: The thesis is based on literature review, which was sourced with predetermined search criteria in CINAHL, Science Direct and PubMed databases, COBISS and Cochrane Library data collections, and Google Scholar browser. The literature was thematically analyzed and synthesized and arranged according to themes and sub-themes. Results: Sourcing in databases and search engines has yielded 53 results, among which 8 were suitable for use. The main topic is education and training of doulas, which was sorted into three subtopics: (1) personal experiences of doulas, (2) current education, and (3) legal regulation of their education and operation. Discussion and conclusion: Education and training of doulas vary. Even doulas themselves are not satisfied with the way they are educated. The problem lies in the lack of legal foundation and the deficiencies in certain areas of education that would ensure their proper functioning. Only regulation at the national level could eliminate the differences and contribute more to their professionalism.
