Title:Hunting tourism in the Novo mesto hunting management area and opportunities and possibilities for further development
Abstract:Hunting tourism is an activity based on the marketing of renewable resources such as game, within the framework of both consumptive and non-consumptive hunting. It faces various ethical questions, which is why it is important to understand the meaning of hunting activities in the past and today. Despite its small size, Slovenia enables the development of hunting tourism due to its natural features. Hunting tourism is mostly practiced in special-purpose hunting grounds and, to a lesser extent, in hunting grounds managed by hunting associations. The Novo Mesto Hunting Management Area is still in the early stages of developing hunting tourism, which is reflected in the limited offerings and low number of hunting guests. Hunting associations are voluntary organizations, which makes it difficult to adopt a more in-depth approach to tourism development. Therefore, it is essential to find a suitable managing entity. The area is rich in both large and small game, as well as in the presence of large carnivores. Currently, it is facing a significant problem with the golden jackal, which negatively affects the main offering, roe deer. Photographic hunting is emerging as a promising opportunity, as it is becoming increasingly popular. Hunting tourism in this area has development potential due to its possibilities for integration with natural and cultural resources as well as other complementary activities.
