Abstract:Uvod: V svetu narašča število pacientov, ki potrebuje operacije zaradi akutnih in kroničnih bolezni ali poškodb. Metode: Izvedli smo pregled literature s pomočjo iskalne strategije in vključitvenih ter izključitvenih kriterijev. Uporabili smo mednarodne podatkovne baze: PubMed, SAGE in ScienceDirect. Rezultate smo predstavili opisno v evalvacijski tabeli in izvedli vsebinsko analizo podatkov.

Title:Effectiveness of non-pharmacological methods for pain management in the postoperative period
Abstract:Introduction: The number of patients requiring surgery due to acute and chronic diseases or injuries is increasing worldwide. The postoperative period is characterized by postoperative pain, which is a prolonged process during recovery. The purpose of the thesis is to determine which non- pharmacological methods for pain management are effective in patients during the postoperative pain. Methods: We conducted a literature review using a search strategy and inclusion and exclusion criteria. We used international databases: PubMed, SAGE, and ScienceDirect. The results were presented descriptively in an evaluation table, and we conducted a content analysis of the data. Results: Non-pharmacological methods are effective in alleviating postoperative pain in patients, but they cannot completely replace pharmacological methods for pain relief. Among the most common and effective non-pharmacological methods are massage therapy, aromatherapy with various essential oils, acupuncture, and reflexology. We have also identified other non-pharmacological methods such as virtual reality use, music therapy, etc. These methods have also proven to be effective in managing postoperative pain. Discussion and Conclusion: In the future, research on non-pharmacological methods for alleviating postoperative pain should continue, as this could reduce the use of opioid analgesics and thereby minimaze unwanted side effects. Furthermore, it can promote faster recovery, rehabilitation and improve the quality of life of patients after surgery.
