Abstract:Uvod:Snemanje eletrokardiograma (EKG) pri otrocih je pogosto stresno in vodi do motenj v kakovosti zapisa in procesu snemanja. Z metodo zaporednega vzorčenja so bili razporejeni v eksperimentalno skupino (z risankami) in kontrolno skupino (brez distrakcije).

Title:The impact of audiovisual distraction techniques on ECG recording process and its quality in children under the age of seven
Abstract:Introduction: Recording an electrocardiogram (ECG) in children is often stressful and leads to disturbances in the quality of the recording and the recording process. Therefore, it is important to investigate methods to reduce stress and improve the examination process. The aim of our study was to investigate how the use of audiovisual distraction affects the ECG recording process and the quailty of the recordings obtained in children aged up to seven years. Methods: A quantitative quasi-experimental study was conducted involving 100 children aged 7 years and younger referred to a cardiology outpatient clinic. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistical tests (Man-Whitney U-test, Spearman's correlation) were used for data analysis. Results: The ECG recording was significantly shorter in the cartoon group (2,44min) than in the non-distracted (3,87min) (p < 0,001). The quality of the ECG recording was also better in the cartoon group, with a mean score of 4,63, compared to the control group with a mean score of 2,84 (p < 0,001). Spearman's rank correlation analysis showed a strong negative correlation between the duration and quality of the recording (rs = -0,789; p < 0,001). Discussion and conclusion: Playing cartoons during ECG examination effectively shortens the procedure and improves the quality of ECG recordings, contributing to a better experience for children and a more accurate diagnosis.
