Abstract:Uvod: Ženskam, zlasti materam, so pogosto pripisane vloge negovalk in skrbnic. Psihosocialna podpora izboljšuje duševno zdravje mater in razvoj otrok. Potrebne so dodatne, zlasti dolgoročne raziskave o trajnih učinkih teh intervencij.

Title:Support for mothers undergoing treatment for illicit substance dependence in infant care
Abstract:Introduction: Women, especially mothers, are often assigned roles as caregivers and nurturers. Support for mothers undergoing treatment for illicit substance dependence is crucial in the care of their infants. The aim of this thesis was to explore what type of support is necessary for mothers undergoing treatment for illicit substance dependence in the care of their infants, based on a literature review. Methods: The thesis is based on the descriptive method, which was used for the systematic collection of relevant scientific sources, analysis and synthesis of articles, and presentation of results. Scientific literature was obtained from databases such as CINAHL, Cochrane Library, PubMed, SAGE, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science. The literature review is presented using a PRISMA diagram. The synthesis of the literature was conducted based on a literature review. Results: An analysis of seven studies shows that early involvement of mothers in treatment reduces the risk of harmful effects on the fetus and newborn. Psychosocial support improves mothers’ mental health and child development. Despite stigma, comprehensive programs combining healthcare, social services, and parenting support have proven effective in treatment and strengthening parenting skills. Discussion and Conclusion: Research indicates that comprehensive and early support for mothers with substance dependence and their children improves outcomes. Programs combining treatment, psychological and social support, and parenting skills are key. Additional, especially long-term, research is needed to better understand the lasting effects of these interventions.
