Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava zgodovinsko umestitev izraelsko-palestinskega konflikta, ki zajema opis konflikta in izpostavlja občutljivost narave konflikta.

Title:The role of terrorism in the israeli-palestinian conflict
Abstract:The thesis considers the historical context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including an overview and highlighting the sensitivity of its nature. The main topic is the role of terrorism in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The most important turning points and components are presented, all of which have significantly influenced the use and intenstity of terrorism. With the adoption of Resolution 181 in 1947, the UN attempted to establish peace by splitting the territory into two nations. The attempt failed and provoked poor reactions in the Arab world. In 1948, the nation of Israel was declared, fulfilling the goals of the Zionist movement. This event also had a profound impact on the development and begining of Palestinian terrorism. We found that the conflict is strongly tied to the formation of Palestinian and Israeli organisations, which are marked as terrorist by Palestine, Israel and the international comunity. Both nations historicaly used, and continue to use, terrorism as a means to achieve their political goals. Jewish forces carried out terrorist attacks before the formation of Israel. Initially, these attacks were targeted at the British, but after their withdrawal, their attacks were aimed at Palestinians. Many bombings, massacres and assassinations were documented. Palestinians employed similar tactics, the most common being suicide bombings, which, after the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993, grew into the primary method of combat. We can put forward that both sides dehumanised and put blame of the begining of the conflict on each other. The international comunity, which in the past has often supported Israel, is now gathering in marches and calling for an end to the current war between Palestine and Israel.
