Abstract:V okviru magistrskega dela smo z uporabo emulzijskega sistema olje-v-olju sintetizirali visoko porozne polimerne materiale na osnovi N-vinilkaprolaktama (VCL) in N,N-dimetilakrilamida (DMAA). Preizkusili smo različna molska razmerja VCL in DMAA ter jih zamrežili z dvema različnima zamreževaloma, in sicer z N,N'-metilenbisakrilamidom (MBAA) in etilen glikol dimetakrilatom (EGDMA). PoliHIPE strukturo smo potrdili s SEM in helijevo piknometrijo.

Title:Synthesis of N-vinylcaprolactam-co-N,N-dimethylacrylamide PolyHIPEs Using Oil-in-Oil Emulsion Systems
Abstract:In our research, highly porous polymeric materials based on N-vinylcaprolactam (VCL) and N,N-dimethylacrylamide (DMAA) were synthesized using an oil-in-oil emulsion system. We tested different ratios of VCL and DMAA and crosslinked them with two different crosslinkers, N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide (MBAA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). We compared the polymerization efficiency of the two different emulsion systems, determined the stability of the emulsion and varied the crosslinking of our highly porous polymers. We selected the appropriate type of emulsion system and surfactant for successful polymerization of PolyHIPE. We experimentally confirmed the prediction that we would not be successful with a water-in-oil emulsion system. In further analyses, we focused on the oil-in-oil emulsion system and investigated the influence of different parameters on the chemical and physical-morphological properties of the materials. The presence of functional groups characteristic of the monomers and crosslinkers was detected by FTIR spectroscopy and the successful polymerization of copolymers and homopolymers was confirmed by 13C CP/MAS NMR spectroscopy. PolyHIPE structure was confirmed by SEM and helium pycnometry.
