Abstract:Povzetek Uvod: Covid-19 pogosto povzroči akutno respiratorno odpoved, zaradi česar številni bolniki potrebujejo mehansko ventilacijo in pronacijo. Zbrani podatki so vključevali demografske značilnosti, trajanje pronacije, lokacijo in stopnjo poškodbe tkiva zaradi tlaka. Uporabljena je bila EPUAP klasifikacija. Analizo smo izvedli s statističnim programom SPSS.

Title:Effect of pronation on the development of pressure tissue damage in patients infected with sars-cov-2
Abstract:Abstract Introduction: Covid-19 often leads to acute respiratory failure, requiring many patients to undergo mechanical ventilation and prone positioning. Proning improves oxygenation but increases the risk of pressure injuries, particularly on the anterior body surface. The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of pronation duration, gender, age, and body mass index on the occurrence of pressure injuries in mechanically ventilated patients with SARS-CoV-2. Methods: A retrospective quantitative study was conducted on a sample of 100 patients who were proned for more than 24 hours during hospitalization in a covid intensive care unit. Collected data included demographic characteristics, duration of pronation, location, and stage of pressure injuries. The EPUAP classification system was used. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Results: Pressure injuries were recorded in 79% of patients, with a total of 184 injuries, most frequently located on the face and chest. Pressure injuries occurred significantly more often in male patients, those over 60 years of age, with a body mass index greater than 28.4 kg/m², and in cases of prolonged pronation (p < 0.05). Discussion and conclusion: The impact of pronation on pressure injury development is multifactorial. Both physiological and organizational factors influence the outcomes. The findings highlight the need for appropriate protection of pressure points and an individualized approach to patient care.
