Title:ESG Principles at Airports in Air Transport
Abstract:The thesis discusses the importance and use of environmental, social and governance (hereafter: ESG) principles at airports in the context of sustainable development. Airports, as important infrastructure facilities, play a key role in reducing environmental impacts, improving relations with society and strengthening corporate governance. The purpose of the thesis is to examine how the largest European airports incorporate ESG approaches into their operations and to what extent they comply with these principles. Various methods were used in the diploma thesis, such as case studies, comparative analysis and a review of annual reports of selected airports. The findings show that the use of ESG strategies can significantly contribute to greater sustainability, better reputation and competitiveness of airports. Despite progress, airports still face challenges such as financial constraints, different laws and uneven levels of awareness. The thesis also highlights the encouragement for more successful integration. The thesis also highlights the encouragement for more successful integration of ESG principles into airport operations and focuses on the appropriate demand for a comprehensive approach of the aviation sector to sustainable development.
