Abstract:Uvod: Neformalni oskrbovalci imajo ključno vlogo pri oskrbi svojca v terminalni fazi. Njihova naloga pogosto vključuje osnovno pomoč, čustveno podporo, odločanje in spremljanje simptomov bolezni. Pregledane so bile podatkovne baze PubMed, CINAHL, SAGE in Web of Science; sledili smo smernicam PRISMA ter uporabili narativno sintezo. Rezultati: V analizo in sintezo je bilo vključenih 16 člankov.

Title:Supporting informal carers in the care of relative in the terminal phase
Abstract:Introduction: Informal caregivers support relatives during the terminal phase, providing basic assistance, emotional support, and symptom monitoring. However, they often face high stress, burnout, and feelings of being unsupported, which can harm their mental and physical health as well as the quality of care they provide. Methods: A literature review used a targeted search strategy with specific keywords and criteria for including or excluding articles. We reviewed the PubMed, CINAHL, SAGE, and Web of Science databases, following PRISMA guidelines and using narrative synthesis for analysis. Results: Sixteen articles were analysed, highlighting that caregivers primarily need adequate information about the disease, the dying process, and care methods. Emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, communication, and administrative support are also crucial. Structured support enhances caregiver well-being and improves care quality. Discussion and conclusion: Informal caregivers need comprehensive support, which is still lacking and too focused on the patient, while the needs of caregivers are insufficiently known or forgotten. It is advisable to explore more experiences and needs of caregivers, taking into account cultural, social, and economic factors, as these are significantly reflected in the perception of burden and access to assistance.
