Title:Victims of violence in nightclubs
Abstract:This thesis examines the phenomenon of violence in nightclubs, with a focus on victims and risk factors such as gender, age and the use of psychoactive substances. The theoretical part presents various forms of violence—physical, sexual, and psychological—their prevalence, and the influence of social norms and spatial characteristics on their experience. The empirical part is based on a quantitative study conducted through an online questionnaire with 225 participants aged 18 and above. The results showed that more than half of the respondents had already experienced some form of violence, most commonly sexual harassment, with women aged 18 to 25 facing the highest risk. The analysis showed a strong link between the incidence of violence and the presence of alcohol, both among victims and perpetrators. Almost a third of respondents do not usually feel safe in a club environment. These findings underscore the need for a comprehensive approach to improving safety, including staff training, the presence of security guards, and the development of prevention programs. Furthermore, the study contributes to a better understanding of the dynamics of violence in nightlife and provides a basis for further research and the development of effective safety measures.
