Dodatne opazke anketirancev pa razkrivajo bogato lokalno znanje in naravovarstveno ozaveščenost, saj številni kmetje travinje povezujejo z raznolikim rastlinskim in živalskim svetom. Ugotovitve raziskave poudarjajo pomen nadaljnjega izobraževanja o okoljskih in družbenih vlogah travinja ter predstavljajo uporabno izhodišče za oblikovanje ciljno usmerjenih kmetijsko okoljskih ukrepov in vsebin za ozaveščanje.

Title:Knowledge on the multifunctional role of grassland among farmers in Natura 2000
Abstract:Grasslands are one of the most important forms of agricultural land use in Slovenia, especially in Natura 2000 areas where they play a key role in preserving biodiversity and providing ecosystem services. In agricultural practices, grasslands are still often regarded primarily as fodder sources, while their conservation and social functions remain underrecognized. Understanding these multifunctional roles among farmers is crucial for the sustainable use of land and effective protection of grassland habitats. This master's thesis examines farmers' awareness of the multifunctional role of grasslands in selected Natura 2000 areas: Dravinja Valley, Ličenca near Poljčane, Boč–Haloze–Donačka gora and Volčeke. The research, conducted in the spring of 2021 as part of the agricultural subsidy campaign, included 81 opportunistically selected farmers operating within Natura 2000 zones. The results indicate that productive functions, particularly fodder production, are the most frequently recognized, while conservation and social roles are less well known. Statistical analyses did not reveal significant differences in awareness based on gender, age or education, indicating that demographic factors do not significantly influence the understanding of grassland multifunctionality. However, additional remarks from respondents reveal rich local knowledge and environmental awareness, as many farmers associate grasslands with diverse plant and animal life. The findings highlight the importance of continued education on the environmental and social functions of grasslands and provide a useful basis for developing targeted agri-environmental measures and awareness-raising initiatives.
