Abstract:Diplomsko delo z naslovom »Metode proračunskega načrtovanja za izboljšanje osebnih financ« preučuje, kako lahko različni pristopi k razporejanju prihodkov in izdatkov prispevajo k večji finančni stabilnosti in dolgoročni blaginji posameznika. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljene štiri izbrane metode proračunskega načrtovanja – pravilo 50/30/20, sistem z ničelno osnovo, ovojnični sistem in metoda »najprej plačaj sebi«.

Title:Budgeting methods to improve personal finances
Abstract:The thesis titled “Budgeting Methods to Improve Personal Finances” examines how various approaches to allocating income and expenses can contribute to greater financial stability and the long-term prosperity of individuals. The theoretical part presents four selected budgeting methods – the 50/30/20 rule, the zero-based budgeting system, the envelope system, and the “pay yourself first” method. Their main characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages are described, along with possibilities for adaptation to different life circumstances and financial goals. The thesis also analyses the impact of financial discipline, motivation, and access to information on the successful use of these methods, while emphasising the role of modern digital tools. Significant attention is also devoted to the adaptation of budgeting methods based on various life situations and individual financial profiles. The empirical part is based on a survey conducted among individuals in Slovenia, which enabled a quantitative evaluation of the hypotheses. The results confirm that employed individuals are more aware of budgeting methods than students and the unemployed, and that the greatest obstacle to using these methods is a lack of awareness of their existence and functioning. It was also found that women show greater interest in additional learning about budgeting than men. The thesis thus provides a comprehensive insight into the importance and applicability of budgeting as a tool for responsible personal finance management, while highlighting the need for greater financial literacy and accessible, adaptable solutions that would make these methods more approachable to a wider audience.
