Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava problematiko vplivov izdelkov na okolje v vseh fazah njihovega življenjskega cikla.

Title:Product development and its environmental impact throughout the life cycle
Abstract:The thesis titled Development of a Product and Its Environmental Impacts Throughout Its Life Cycle addresses the issue of environmental impacts of products during all stages of their life cycle. The main focus of the research is on lithium-ion batteries, which play a crucial role in the development of electric mobility and portable electronics, but at the same time pose significant environmental challenges. The thesis analyzes the impacts of each phase of the battery life cycle, from raw material extraction and production to usage and end-of-life treatment or recycling. Special attention is given to the consumption of natural resources, greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, and possibilities for material reuse. The aim of the thesis is to develop a methodological approach for assessing and reducing the environmental impacts of products using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The research is based on international standards SIST EN ISO 14040:2006 and SIST EN ISO 14044:2006. The results include a detailed evaluation of the environmental impacts of lithium-ion batteries across all life cycle stages and recommendations for their reduction, which can contribute to sustainable product development.
