Abstract:Samoregulacija je obsežen koncept, ki opisuje aktivno upravljanje, prilagajanje in uravnavanje posameznikovega vedenja proti želenemu cilju, in je ključna za učinkovito prilagajanje, uspešno doseganje ciljev, obvladovanje stresa ter ohranjanje čustvenega in fizičnega blagostanja.

Title:Self-regulation in relation to positive and negative risk in adolescence
Abstract:Self-regulation is a broad concept that refers to the active management, adjustment and control of one's behaviour toward a desired goal. It plays a crucial role in effective adaptation, successful goal achievement, stress management and maintaining emotional and physical well-being. Adolescence, as a developmental stage, presents numerous challenges, making the understanding of self-regulation in this context particularly important. In this master's thesis, we examined the impact of self-regulation on engagement in positive and negative risk-taking behaviours among 171 adolescents from two age groups, enrolled in secondary and university level education. We also explored differences based on gender and age. The results indicate that a higher level of self-regulation predicts lower involvement in negative risk-taking behaviors. Furthermore, negative risk-taking behaviour in adolescents is associated with increased risks in social and health-related domains. We found that gender differences in self-regulation tend to even out with development and that contextual factors, such as the social and societal environment, have a significant influence on the occurrence of risk taking behaviour, regardless of gender.
