Abstract:Študentsko obdobje je čas pomembnih življenjskih odločitev, ki prinašajo številne spremembe in izzive.

Title:Studies and parenthood - challenges of studnet families in Slovenia
Abstract:Student period is a time of important life decisions that bring along numerous changes and challenges. During this period, some students feel the desire to start a family, which leads to additional responsibilities and the need to balance different life roles. Student families often face challenges related to reconciling school obligations, family and partner life, and parental duties. The main aim of the research was to get an insight of the life situations of student families in Slovenia, with a focus on the challenges of parenthood during studies and the strategies student parents use to conquer them. The theoretical part presents key concepts for understanding the topic, while the empirical part, based on interviews with student parents, analyses their everyday experiences and challenges they face in fulfilling the roles of both student and parent. The results show that student families encounter various difficulties, such as time pressure, financial and housing insecurity, psychological stress, and a lack of flexibility within the academic environment. Careful planning, adaptability, support from partners and extended family, as well as understanding from education institutions, play a crucial role in successfully balancing academic and parental responsibilities. Despite many difficulties, numerous student parents develop important competences and skills, such as effective time management, high motivation, and psychological resilience, which help them, achieve academic success while maintaining family balance.
