Title:Banking offer for personal segment in the circumstances of digitalisation of banking
Abstract:Digitalization is expanding into all areas, and banking is no exception. Since a company’s growth, development, and survival depend on its ability to adapt, and given that banks face new and increasingly powerful competitors, it must create modern, innovative, and attractive products as well as reliable strategies to retain clients and their deposits, which serve as a key source of bank funding and, consequently, underpin their market position. In this thesis, the research focuses on households and their financial assets, specifically bank deposits. We set out to examine why household funds are so important for banks, what kinds of products banks are developing in response to innovation trends, what retail-segment offerings they currently provide, and how competitive these offerings are compared with. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the broad concept of funding sources, since customer deposits play a key role in asset transformation, which is the primary function of banks. Our findings indicate that prospects for deposits point to steady growth, confirming that household deposits remain the most significant source of funding for banks. In the empirical part, we analysed and compared banking plans offered by traditional banks and neobanks, which are also entering the Slovenian market and appealing to clients with a different, highly personalised approach. This research highlights the strengths and weaknesses of these plans, providing insight into the market situation and the degree of competitiveness among individual plans and banks.
