Izvedli smo korelacijsko analizo, hierarhično multiplo regresijo in mediacijo.

Title:Motivational and emotional factors of academic self-handicapping in upper-secondary school students
Abstract:Academic self-handicapping is a proactive self-regulatory strategy in which students create obstacles that hinder their chances of success in academic achievement situations. Academic self-handicapping has negative consequences for learning outcomes and makes the learning process less enjoyable for those who use such strategies. This master's thesis was focused on examining the role of motivational and emotional factors related to academic achievement situations in the use of self-handicapping strategies among upper-secondary school students. The relationship between academic self-handicapping strategies and academic achievement, along with the mediating role of achievement goals in the relationship between fear of failure and academic self-handicapping, was also examined. A total of 376 upper-secondary school students took part in the study, including 223 (59,5 %) girls. Participants completed demographic questions, questions related to academic achievement, the Academic Self-Handicapping Scale (ASHS), the Revised Achievement Goal Questionnaire, (AGQ-R), the Revised Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale (ITIS-R), the Self Description Questionnaire (SDQ-2) and the Performance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI). Data were analyzed using correlational analyses, hierarchical multiple regression, and mediation analyses. The results showed a statistically significant negative correlation between the use of self-handicapping strategies and academic achievement. Academic self-concept, fear of failure, and mastery and performance-approach goal orientations were identified as significant predictors of academic self-handicapping. Additionally, avoidance-based goal orientations were found to partially mediate the relationship between fear of failure and academic self-handicapping. The findings were discussed in relation to previous research, study limitations were acknowledged, and directions for further research were proposed.
