Študenti so prihajali z različnih fakultet in študijskih programov. Rezultati so pokazali negativno povezanost (akademskega) stresa in kakovosti spanja, telesna aktivnost in psihološka prožnost sta bili s kakovostjo spanja pozitivno povezani.

Title:The Relationship between Stress and Sleep Quality among Students: The Role of Physical Activity and Psychological Resilience
Abstract:Sleep quality is connected with numerous consequences in various areas of life. It represents one of the key factors relative to mental health, especially among the student population, which is exposed to high levels of (academic) stress. The purpose of this research was to study the connections between stress, sleep quality, physical activity and psychological resilience in students. We were interested in determining whether physical activity and psychological resilience facilitate the relationship between sleep and stress. Using latent profile analysis, we wanted to identify different student groups according to the level of physical activity and psychological resilience. The research included 320 students aged 18-24 years (M = 21.46; SD = 1.69). The students came from different faculties and study programmes. Sleep quality was measured with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the perceived stress with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and academic stress with the Perception of Academic Stress Scale (PAS), while for psychological resilience the Child and Youth Resilience Measure (CYRM-12) was used and for physical activity, we relied on the IPAQ-SF | International Physical Activity Questionnaire - Short form and the average number of steps made in one week. The results have shown a negative correlation between (academic) stress and sleep quality; on the other hand, there was a positive correlation between physical activity and psychological resilience and sleep quality. Physical activity and psychological resilience facilitated the relationship between stress and sleep quality in a way that the negative correlation between stress and sleep quality was weaker in students with a higher level of physical activity or psychological resilience than in students with a lower level of physical activity or psychological resilience. Based on the level of physical activity and psychological resilience, we identified four latent profiles in students. The identified profiles differed according to gender, sleep quality and perceived stress. Our results are mostly aligned with the existing literature and represent an expanded understanding of this area, while also highlighting the importance of the relevant research. Programmes, focused on strengthening psychological resilience and promotion of regular physical activity, could represent an effective strategy for improving sleep quality in students. Intervention studies could provide a firmer confirmation of these findings.
