Abstract:	Diplomsko delo obravnava dejavnike uspeha in neuspeha start-up podjetij ter vlogo podjetniških inkubatorjev pri podpori start-up podjetjem v Sloveniji. V teoretičnem delu sta predstavljena pomen in definicija start-up podjetij, prav tako so razdelani dejavniki uspeha in neuspeha ter razvojne faze start-up podjetij. Poseben poudarek je namenjen podjetniškim inkubatorjem, njihovim oblikam podpore in vplivu na rast podjetij. Empirični del temelji na anketni raziskavi med slovenskimi start-upi. Rezultati kažejo, da je za večjo zaznano koristnost inkubatorja in večji prispevek k uspehu podjetja pomembnejša predvsem raznolikost oblik sodelovanja (npr. mentorstvo, delavnice, mreženje) kot pa sama dolžina vključevanja, saj je daljše sodelovanje med podjetji redkejše. Kot glavni dejavnik tveganja za neuspeh je bilo prepoznano pomanjkanje dostopa do kapitala, medtem ko se neučinkovitost ekipe ni izkazala kot pomembno tveganje. Na zunanji ravni so podjetniki kot največje ovire izpostavili zapleteno birokracijo, omejen dostop do kapitala in težave pri pridobivanju kupcev, kot ključne priložnosti za izboljšanje pa vidijo boljšo dostopnost financiranja, poenostavitev administrativnih postopkov in krepitev podjetniške kulture.

Title:	Factors of success and failure of start-up companies and the role of the business incubators
Abstract:	The thesis examines the factors of success and failure of start-up companies and the role of business incubators in supporting start-ups in Slovenia. The theoretical part presents the definition and significance of start-ups, as well as the key success and failure factors and the development stages of start-up companies. Special emphasis is placed on business incubators, their forms of support, and their impact on company growth. The empirical part is based on a survey conducted among Slovenian start-ups. The results show that the perceived usefulness of incubators and their contribution to company success depend primarily on the diversity of support received (e.g., mentoring, workshops, networking) rather than the duration of involvement, as longer participation is relatively rare. The main risk factor for failure was identified as limited access to capital, while team inefficiency did not prove to be a significant risk. On the external level, entrepreneurs highlighted complex bureaucracy, limited access to capital, and difficulties in acquiring customers as the main obstacles, while the key opportunities for improvement are seen in better access to financing, simplification of administrative procedures, and the strengthening of entrepreneurial culture.
