V teoretičnem delu so predstavljeni koncept in pomen zlatih kriminalističnih vprašanj ter zakonski, etični in profesionalni okvirji medijskega poročanja o kriminaliteti.

Title:Media reporting on a selected murder case: golden questions of criminal investigation as an analytical framework
Abstract:In this thesis, we present an analysis of media reporting on a selected murder case, with a special emphasis on the use of golden questions of criminal investigation as an analytical framework. The aim of the thesis is to examine the extent to which the Slovenian media provided answers to individual golden questions of criminal investigation in their reports and what approach they used in doing so – professional or sensationalist. The theoretical part presents the concept and significance of golden questions of criminal investigation and the legal, ethical, and professional frameworks of media reporting on crime. It also discusses the role of the media in shaping public opinion, the phenomenon of sensationalism, and the influence of the accessibility of information sources. The empirical part contains a content analysis of selected media reports, which examines the extent to which the reporting on the case in question provided answers to individual golden questions of criminal investigation. The results show that the media consistently answered the basic questions (what, when, where, and how), while questions related to the motive, complicity, and means of the crime were often presented at the level of assumptions and speculation. It was also found that the reporting in most of the analyzed articles was sensationalist, which was reflected in the use of dramatic headlines, emotionally charged language, the highlighting of shocking details, and images with an emotional impact. The most sensationalist reporting was observed in Slovenske novice and, to some extent, on the 24ur.com portal, while STA's reporting was mostly professional and neutral. The thesis thus confirms that the media are an important source of information about crime, but at the same time, their reporting influences the formation of public perception of criminal acts.
