Title:The effect of domestic multitasking on perceived productivity and job satisfaction: the role of polychronicity
Abstract:Work from home has become an increasingly widespread form of flexible work that allows employees greater autonomy, while also posing challenges for both individuals and organizations. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of satisfaction with domestic multitasking in predicting perceived productivity and job satisfaction when working from home, as well as to test the moderating role of the personality trait polychronicity. The study included 156 participants aged between 22 and 60 years, who completed an online questionnaire. The results showed that satisfaction with domestic multitasking significantly predicted both perceived productivity and job satisfaction when working from home. Furthermore, polychronicity significantly predicted satisfaction with domestic multitasking. The results of moderation analyses indicated that polychronicity significantly moderated the relationship between satisfaction with domestic multitasking and job satisfaction when working from home, but not the relationship between satisfaction with domestic multitasking and perceived productivity. These findings highlight the importance of satisfaction with domestic multitasking for employees' psychological well-being and effectiveness in work from home, and emphasize the role of individual differences in polychronicity, which should be considered in the development of organizational policies on flexible work arrangements.
