Abstract:Medicinske sestre v urgentni dejavnosti so pogosto izpostavljene verbalnemu, psihološkemu, fizičnemu in spolnemu nasilju.

Title:Violence against nurses in the emergency department
Abstract:Nurses working in emergency departments are often exposed to verbal, psychological, physical, and sexual violence, and the risk increases due to the nature of their work and stress, threatening their safety and well-being. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the issue of violence against nurses in emergency care. In a quantitative study involving 56 nurses who perform triage, data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Mann–Whitney U test, and Spearman's correlation coefficient at a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Thirty-four women (61.8%) and 21 men (38.2%) participated in the study. Ninety-one point one percent of respondents had experienced violence, most commonly verbal (98.2%). The correlation between violence and age was weak but statistically significant (r = –0.280; p = 0.050), while there was no significant correlation with length of employment (r = –0.200; p = 0.150). There were no significant differences in the impact of violence on private life (U = 260.0; p = 0.300) or health (U = 290.0; p = 0.482) based on gender. The results confirm that violence against nurses in emergency care is common, with verbal violence predominating. Due to the negative consequences for health and well-being, effective measures to prevent and manage it are urgently needed.
