Metode: Izvedli smo pregled literature s pristopom PIO in metodami analize, kompilacije, komparacije in sinteze. Glavni dejavniki tveganja so depresija, predhodno samo poškodovalno vedenje, anksioznost, uporaba določenih zdravil in specifične vrste de mence. Razprava in zaključek: Zgodnje prepoznavanje simptomov, psihiatrična podpora in vklju čevanje družine in socialne podpore zmanjšujejo tveganje in izboljšujejo kakovost življe nja starejših z demenco.

Title:Suicidal behaviour in older people with dementia
Abstract:Introduction: Dementia is a neurodegenerative syndrome characterized by a decline in cognitive abilities, which affects the independent living of older adults. People with dementia are at increased risk of suicidal behavior associated with depression, anxiety, and awareness of the progression of the disease. Methods: We conducted a literature review using the PIO approach and methods of analysis, compilation, comparison, and synthesis. The search was conducted in the CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed, and Web of Science databases. Articles discussing the link between dementia and suicidal behavior were included. The entire process is illustrated in the PRISMA diagram. Results: Of the 347 hits, 7 studies were included in the final analysis after filtering. The risk of suicidal behavior is highest in the early stages of dementia, particularly in the first year after diagnosis and the first 90 days. The main risk factors are depression, previous self-harming behavior, anxiety, use of certain medications, and specific types of dementia. Discussion and conclusion: Early recognition of symptoms, psychiatric support, and the involvement of family and social support reduce risk and improve the quality of life of older people with dementia.
