Metode: Izvedli smo sistematični pregled znanstvene in strokovne literature v angleškem jeziku, pridobljene iz mednarodnih podatkovnih baz PubMed, SAGE in ScienceDirect. Za prikaz pregleda in izbire člankov smo uporabili PRISMA diagram. Pri ocenjevanju kakovosti člankov smo uporabili orodja Joanna Briggs Institute in The Mixed Methods Apprasial Tool. Zaradi neenotnosti v rezultatih pregledanih raziskav in omejenega števila kakovostnih raziskav ni mogoče dokončno potrditi njene učinkovitosti pri fiziološkem poteku poroda.

Title:Acupuncture in the perinatal period and preparation of the pregnant woman for childbirth
Abstract:Introduction: Acupuncture is a traditional therapeutic approach that forms part of complementary and alternative medicine. In recent years, its application has increasingly expanded into field of perinatology, where it is primarily used to relieve pregnancy-related discomforts, enhance maternal well-being and support preparation for childbirth. The aim was to explore the influence of acupuncture on the preparation of pregnant women for labour. Methods: A systematic review of scientific and professional literature in English was conducted using international databases PubMed, SAGE, and ScienceDirect. A PRISMA diagram was used to present the review and selection process of the articles. To assess the quality of the articles, the Joanna Briggs Institute tools and the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool were used. Content analysis was performed, followed by a synthesis of the collected data. Results: Eight selected articles were included. The main category identified was perinatal acupuncture, with the following subcategories: physiological effects on childbirth, psychological effects on pregnant women, and safety of use. Discussion and conclusion: Perinatal acupuncture is generally considered a safe, accessible, and effective complementary method that has a positive impact on the psychophysical well-being of pregnant women and may contribute to a more favourable childbirth experience. However, due to inconsistencies in the results of the reviewed studies and the limited number of high-quality studies, its effectiveness in the supporting the physiological course of labour cannot be conclusively confirmed.
