Abstract:UVOD: Zdravstvena nega je področje zaposlitve z delom pod visokim pritiskom. Vse večje pomanjkanje zdravstvenega kadra, motiviranje obstoječega kadra in reševanje konfliktov v timih ob preobremenjenosti zaposlenih pripomorejo k vse večjemu poklicnemu stresu vodilnih medicinskih sester. V empiričnem delu so preverjene štiri zastavljene hipoteze.

Title:The impact of work-related stress on nurse managers and strategies for itsmanagement
Abstract:INTRODUCTION: Nursing is a high-pressure job. Nursing leaders have enormous responsibilities and a key role in creating a healthy work environment that promotes quality outcomes for both the healthcare user and the healthcare organization. The increasing shortage of healthcare staff, motivating existing staff and resolving conflicts in teams with overloaded employees contribute to the increasing work-related stress of nursing leaders. To successfully prevent and reduce the impact of work-related stressors on private life, it is necessary to know good stress management strategies, which are helped by various relaxation techniques. PURPOSE: The purpose of the research work was to investigate and provide an overview of the challenges faced by nursing managers that contribute to professional stress and how they ensure the reduction and resolution of stress from the work environment. METHODS: The theoretical part of the thesis will contain a review of professional and scientific literature on the topic. The theoretical part will then be followed by an empirical part with the implementation of an anonymous survey questionnaire, which was offered to nursing managers employed in nursing homes in Slovenia. RESULTS: The survey was completed in full by 30 participating nursing managers. The majority of responders (86.7%) responded that their workplace is increasingly stressful. Respondents mostly associate stress with greater burdens resulting from overload and the complexity of human resource management. Managers responded that they know stress management strategies, but do not use them very often. Most respondents feel the consequences of professional stress on their private lives, especially in terms of difficulties in relaxing after work. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The literature review has shown a high prevalence of occupational stress in nursing. The results of the survey indicate that occupational stress is present to a large extent among nursing managers, but that there is insufficient concern for its management and reduction. The results of our survey demonstrate the current state of the problem of workplace stress among nursing managers in nursing care and can contribute to further research.
