Title:Interclass violence in primary and secondary schools in the maribor police administration area
Abstract:The thesis discusses the phenomenon of peer violence in primary and secondary schools in the Maribor Police Department area. The purpose of the research was to determine the prevalence and forms of peer violence and the perceptions of students regarding its treatment and prevention, with a special emphasis on the role of the school and the police. The research was conducted using the quantitative method of a questionnaire, which included students in the last triad of primary schools and secondary school students. The collected data were analyzed using basic statistical methods. The results showed that peer violence in the school environment is relatively common, with verbal violence prevailing, followed by physical and online forms, which often also occur in combination. When students perceive violence, they mostly do not intervene directly, but rather inform adults about the events or withdraw from the situation. The research also detected a reduced sense of safety in the school environment and a critical assessment of the effectiveness of existing school measures. Based on the findings, the thesis emphasizes the need for a comprehensive and systematic approach to preventing peer violence, which includes consistent implementation of preventive activities and coordinated cooperation between schools, the police, and other competent institutions.
